Hotel “De vischpoorte” is situated in a gentle part of deventer, but in the city centre, close to the bars, restaurants, and shopping facilities. When you arrive in our hotel, we will offer you some information about activities, shops, and restaurants in the city.
Shopping
The historic city centre is excellent for dynamic and excited shopping. All of the big (Dutch) labels are located here. Next to that, there are small shops and galleries, which are unique and special to visit. The galleries in Deventer are in different styles, from modern to classic. Next to that, there is a number of small speciality shops, thinking of arts, souvenirs and antique.
Sightseeing
Deventer has several historical buildings and monuments. To start with, the Historical Museum, located in “de Waag” which also hosts the tourist information centre, and the nationally famous Toys and Tin museum. We recommend to go for a city walk and visit the beautiful historical buildings and, for instance, the Bergkerk (a church placed on a hill). Always there is the river IJssel, next door to our hotel!
Cultural Activities
Deventer has plenty of cultural centres who offer lots of diverse cultural activities. There are several theaters and stages with Music, theater and movies.
Restaurants
A visit to Deventer can only be complete after a nice dinner. Deventer has a lot of different restaurant to offer. From European (French, Italian) and Dutch to an oriental style of food. Wheather you like a special sandwich or an exclusive dinner, everything can be found in the city centre.
Deventer will suprise you: the city is unique and so is the beautiful river.
